Verizon's Communications team is looking for a senior leader with deep expertise in corporate social responsibility and public affairs to join its high-impact team. This role will oversee Legal and Responsible Business communications and lead a team focused on Verizon's commitment to drive economic, environmental, and social advancement. You will serve as the Communications Business Partner to the Chief Legal Officer and Chief Responsible Business Officer and play a critical role in maximizing the scale, impact, and voice of these leaders across internal and external communications. The ideal candidate will have effective writing and communication skills and the capacity to engage with diverse stakeholders in a fast-paced setting. While this is a senior position in the team, you will be required to take the pen, not just manage the work. Experience working in a global, matrixed organization, as well as experience in executive communications, is considered an asset. You should also exhibit a strong command of key industry and social issues impacting the technology landscape. More than anything, you must be a trusted, strategic counselor to senior leaders with the ability to drive influence. Responsibilities will include: Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy across earned media and owned content that drives company priorities, business goals and product initiatives.

Partner with the Legal and Responsible Business team to translate their priorities into communications strategies, plans and messaging.

Provide strategic counsel to the executive team, including the Chief Legal Officer and Chief Responsible Business Officer, ensuring a consistent and effective leadership message externally and internally.

Proactively identify opportunities to secure positive media coverage and manage crisis communication when necessary.

Build and maintain top-tier media relationships and external partnerships to promote Verizon's impact and commitment to responsible business practices.

Lead a high-performing communications team, fostering a culture of trust, care and excellence.

Work cross-functionally to address the needs of key stakeholders, including customers, employees and community partners.

10 years+ experience in leading a large communications team in a corporate or agency setting

Expert in corporate communications, public relations, crisis management, and executive communications

Highly strategic mindset, including strong instincts and a demonstrated ability to identify media moments and opportunities and to develop, execute and deliver on plans for growth

Exceptional leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and relationship management skills with the ability to manage others, as well as across, up and down an organization

Significant experience managing multiple projects at once and a proven track record of delivering results and achieving targets - ROI-focused at every level

Outstanding writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with attention to detail

Demonstrated success as a Communications Business Partner to a C-suite executive in a multi-national, matrixed organization

Ability to influence at an executive level through exceptional business acumen, domain expertise, and written/verbal communication

Experience in social impact communications and public affairs, with an emphasis on digital inclusion, human prosperity and climate protection

Extreme attention to detail; holds internal and external partners to the same high standards

Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, pivot quickly, and respond with urgency

Sound business judgment and experience "connecting the dots" across topics

Experience utilizing digital and social media channels to reach a specific audience
